TikTok may soon be forced out of the United States. On Wednesday, President Biden signed a bill to force the sale of the app or face a ban. But, it turns out the United States isn't the first country to try and ban TikTok. Back in 2020, India decided to ban the video app. In India, the ban happened pretty swiftly in the context of conflict with China on India's northern border. In the United States, I think a lot of the motivation for the legislation that recently passed is about Chinese influence and ownership," said Ganesh Sitaraman, the New York Alumni Chancellor's Chair in Law at Vanderbilt Law School.
