Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s “totally inappropriate” speech in which the New York pol called for new elections in Israel after the war winds down. Last Thursday, Schumer (D-NY), the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in the US, blasted Netanyahu and his cabinet as an impediment to long-term peace in the region during a speech on the Senate floor. “I think what he said is totally inappropriate. It’s inappropriate for him to go to a sister democracy and try to replace the elected leadership there,” Netanyahu said on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday. “That’s something that [the] Israeli public does on its own.
