Various of prayer for victims STORYLINE: At least 15 people were in Israeli shelling of the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. Hospital records showed 15 bodies arrived early on Sunday at the al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al-Balah. The victims included three women, three children and two disabled people. Relatives said they were killed by Israeli artillery fire toward a large tent camp for displaced Palestinians east of Khan Younis. The hospital is the main facility serving central Gaza and Khan Younis, after Israel raided the Nasser hospital last month. Israel rarely comments on specific incidents during the war. It has held that Hamas is responsible for civilian casualties because the militant group operates from within civilian areas. The Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said on Sunday that at least 31,045 Palestinians have been killed since the war began. It doesn’t differentiate between civilians and combatants, but says women and children make up two-thirds of the dead. The ministry is part of the Hamas-run government, and its figures from previous wars largely matched those of the U.N.
