A potent weather system will bring snow, rain and strong winds to the region, beginning in the Cascades Monday morning and moving into the Inland Northwest Monday afternoon into Tuesday. Heavy snow and blizzard conditions are expected in the Cascades over the next several days, and travel could be treacherous. Heavy snow and strong winds will also impact Lookout Pass Monday night through Wednesday morning. Snow will begin in the Spokane area Monday afternoon but remain relatively light throughout the day. Temperatures will be on the cool side though with highs only around freezing, so not much melting will be going on. A surge of warm air working its way into the area Monday night into Tuesday morning will be what curbs our snow amounts in the lower elevations with rain mixing in.
