President Biden kicked off his bid for re-election Friday by deriding former President Donald Trump as a “loser” and calling his bid for a political comeback something out of a “bad fairy tale” Friday — prompting his predecessor to fire back that the 80-year-old is a “true threat to democracy.” Speaking near Washington’s 1777-1778 winter encampment at Valley Forge outside Philadelphia, Biden went scorched earth on both the likely Republican nominee and his allies in Congress, claiming the latter group “abandoned democracy” after “we nearly lost America” during the Capitol riot of Jan. 6, 2021.
