Multiple people were killed in a crash on Interstate 55 in Montgomery County, south of Springfield, Illinois, Monday afternoon. Both north and southbound I-55 were closed from milepost 63 to 80 near Farmersville, according to Illinois State Police. Drivers in the area are being urged to take alternate routes. ISP said this incident involves "multiple crashes with injuries." Police said visibility in the area is low due to blowing dust. In a 4:30 press conference, the Illinois State Police said at least six people were killed in the crash. More than 30 people were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Those with injuries were transported to four different hospitals in the area. Their ages range from 2-80 years old and injuries range from minor to life-threatening.
