U.S. President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol visited the Korean War Memorial on the National Mall, April 25, 2023. Tuesday was the first day of Yoon's visit to Washington. Yoon's visit is meant to highlight the “breadth and depth” of the two countries' relationship as they mark the 70th anniversary of their alliance. South Korea agreed Wednesday not to pursue its own nuclear weapons program, in return for a greater decision-making role in U.S. contingency planning in the event of a North Korean nuclear attack and a more muscular U.S. presence in the region. The deal is part of the so-called Washington Declaration, announced Wednesday. https://www.voanews.com/a/biden-yoon-agree-no-nuclear-weapons-for-south-korea-/7066651.html » Subscribe to VOA News: https://bit.ly/3KIPysi » Watch more VOA News video: https://www.youtube.com/c/VOANews Voice of America (VOA) is the largest U.S. international broadcaster, providing news and information in more than 40 languages to an estimated weekly audience of 236.8 million people.
