Florida executed a man on Thursday for murdering a woman in 1990 after he escaped from prison, stabbing her to death in a shopping mall parking lot in an attempted carjacking. Donald Dillbeck, 59, was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. after receiving a lethal injection, the governor’s office said. He had been convicted in the murder of Faye Vann, 44, in Tallahassee near the state Capitol. The execution was Florida’s first in nearly four years and the third under Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
