Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged world leaders to “hurry up” with agreements on weapons as he spoke via video link at the Munich Security Conference on Friday. The Ukrainian leader thanked countries, including the US, UK and EU for their support so far, but warned, “there is no alternative to speed.” About 40 heads of state and government, as well as politicians and security experts from almost 100 countries, including the United States, Europe and China, are attending the three-day Munich Security Conference in Germany. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, former US House speaker Nancy Pelosi and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg were seen in attendance of the opening speech. Zelenskyy added that he thought Putin would "definitely fall" this year with the support of Ukraine's allies. "We can make sure that there is no alternative to our victory. But then there should be no alternative to our determination," Zelenskyy said. For the first time in two decades, conference organisers did not invite Russian officials to Munich. Western countries have sought to isolate Russia diplomatically over the invasion of Ukraine that began on Feb. 24 2022. -------- Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/2TwO8Gm Subscribe to Bloomberg Originals: https://www.youtube.com/BloombergTV Bloomberg Quicktake brings you global social video spanning business, technology, politics and culture.
