Attorney General Merrick Garland says he's confident in the work the special counsels are doing regarding classified documents found in two president's homes. "The people we choose for special counsel are experienced prosecutors with experience in the Justice Department. They know how the Justice Department works," said Garland Thursday at the Justice Department. "They know what the department's practices are. And I'm fully confident that they will resolve these matters one way or the other in the highest traditions of the department." Classified documents were discovered in the homes of President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence. Special counsels are investigating the Trump and Biden episodes. In all three matters, the significance of the classified material and whether its mishandling breaches national security are not publicly known. During the Garland press conference, FBI Director Christopher Wray was asked if "the system for accounting for classified information in the executive branch may be broken?" "Obviously, I can't comment on any specific investigation, but we have had for quite a number of years any number of mishandling investigations," said Wray. "That is unfortunately a regular part of our counterintelligence division's and counterterrorism program's work and people need to be conscious of the rules regarding classified information and appropriate handling of that.
