Monterey Peninsula could be cut off by flooding
The rising Salinas River is expected to flood and could cut off the Monterey Peninsula from the mainland. The Monterey County sheriff has ordered people to evacuate low-lying communities near the river while warning that the world-known coastal cities of Monterey, Carmel by the Sea and Pacific Grove could be unreachable by road.
