How Sacramento's mayor helped UC workers, university reach tentative agreement
All this week, University of California academic student employees and graduate student researchers are voting on whether to ratify tentative labor agreements reached Friday. Nearly 50,000 UC workers hit the picket lines just over a month ago at campuses across the state. Their union reps and the university system reached a deal at the end with help from Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, statements from all parties involved indicated. “The governor asked me to intervene and I was very happy to do it,” Steinberg said.
