A jury on Tuesday sentenced former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean to 11 years, 10 months and 12 days in prison for the 2019 killing of Atatiana Jefferson. A jury found Dean, who was initially indicted on a murder charge, guilty of manslaughter last week for fatally shooting Jefferson, a Black woman, through the rear window of her Texas home. The sentence did not make Dean eligible for parole, and he will need to serve at least half of his prison sentence to be eligible.
