An economic crisis averted. President Joe Biden is poised to sign a bill Friday that will prevent a major rail strike after the Senate passed a resolution requiring rail workers to accept a tentative labor agreement. The new labor deal includes a $16,000 immediate payout, with an increase in wages and benefits to $160,000, a 24 percent pay raise for the period of 2020 - 2024, $5,000 performance bonuses, maintaining access to health care plans, and an additional day of paid personal leave. But for leaders of at least major 4 unions that agreement still falls short.
