Uvalde CISD suspended its entire police department Friday and reassigned those officers to other tasks. That's not all as we also learned the school district may soon have a new superintendent. UCISD making a major about face Friday as Superintendent Dr. Hal Harrell made these comments to Brett Cross about one week ago. "Why will you not suspend those officers pending an investigation," Cross asked. "Okay, I'll answer,” Dr. Harrell said. “We are doing an investigation, but I need those officers. Just like the city needs their officers and the sheriffs need theirs," he said. For 10 days Cross was camped on the backside of the district administrative building, and he tells us he didn’t know exactly what to expect. One thing Cross did expect was to stay camped out until the force was suspended pending an investigation. Now, with that happening, he is going home. "I'm ready to shower and get out of here. I mean, this is a win. I mean, it shouldn't have had to take this long but it just showed them we're not backing down. We're not going anywhere. I’m speechless right now honestly," Cross said.
