'We're all shattered': Loved ones, community hold vigil for slain Merced County family
The community in Merced prayed and showed support Thursday evening for the loved ones of four Sikh family members, whose bodies were found days after they were kidnapped by an ex-employee. The four, whose abduction from their trucking company led to a desperate search by the Merced County Sheriff's Office, were 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, their 8-month-old baby girl Aroohi Dheri, and the infant’s 39-year-old uncle Amandeep Singh. On Wednesday night, a rancher reported to authorities that they found the bodies in a remote farmland area. The Sikh community, city and religious leaders, and residents gathered Thursday night for a vigil at Bob Hart Square in Merced. Family members said they are only beginning to process their immeasurable pain.
