The National Hurricane Center in Miami reports that Tropical Storm Ian is forecast to rapidly intensify and become a hurricane today (Sunday). The storm could be near major hurricane strength late Monday when it approaches western Cuba, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center warned. As of 8 a.m. Sunday, T.S. Ian was located about 550 miles south-southeast of Grand Cayman with sustained winds of 50 mph and gusts to 65 mph. Ian's movement is west-northwest at 12 mph.
