Iranians living in Greece cut their hair, September 24, 2022, during a demonstration over the death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini while in police custody. The 22-year-old's death sparked protests across Iran, and at least 41 people have been killed in the weeklong unrest, according to Iranian state television. At the demonstration, men shaved their heads and women lopped off ponytails in solidarity with Amini, who had been arrested for wearing "unsuitable attire." Iranian authorities have said they would launch an investigation into the cause of Amini's death.
