China's Xi to Meet Russia's Putin During First Trip Abroad Since Pandemic

Chinese President Xi Jinping will be making his first trip outside his country in more than two years. Xi will visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from Wednesday to Friday. Uzbekistan is hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which will give Xi a chance to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in person for the first time since Moscow began its invasion of Ukraine in February. Meanwhile, the US is considering issuing sanctions on China to deter the country from invading Taiwan, according to Reuters.
