Saturday morning's tropical update shows us that Danielle is the first hurricane of the 2022 Hurricane Season. Tropical Storm Danielle continues to swirl over the northern Atlantic. It has been downgraded to a tropical storm during the overnight due to remaining stationary and the center of the storm tapping into cooler waters. Latest forecast shows that additional strengthening is possible and it may become a category 1 hurricane again. It'll eventually curve to the northeast by next week. Danielle becomes the first hurricane of the hurricane season and is the 7th latest first hurricane in recorded history. Tropical Storm Earl remains east of the Leeward islands. It may bring gusty winds, heavy rain and flash flooding to the northern Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, British Virgin Islands in the next few days then curving to the northeast around midweek. There are no tropical threats to SE LA and the Gulf Coast. Long-range GFS and Euro has us trending rather quiet in the tropical Atlantic for the first half of September with no real threats to land. Hope it's real...we'll see!
