Hurricane Danielle continues to swirl over the northern Atlantic. It's forecast to remain a category 1 hurricane through the next several days then eventually curving to the northeast by next week. Danielle becomes the first hurricane of the hurricane season and is the 7th latest first hurricane in recorded history. Invest 91-L remains east of the Leeward islands and has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression around this weekend. Ensemble models show that it could take a northeasterly turn around midweek. If it strengthens into a tropical storm, Earl is next on the list. Another tropical wave near the Cabo Verde Islands has diminished due to strong wind shear and thick Saharan Dust. Long-range GFS and Euro has us trending rather quiet in the tropical Atlantic for the first half of September with no real threats to land. Hope it's real...we'll see!
