China says it conducted long-range live fire strikes near Taiwan on Thursday as part of military exercises that have raised tensions in the region to their highest level in decades. This after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited leaders in Taipei. Long-range rocket artilleries were fired in the Taiwan Strait, and conventional missiles were launched and landed in waters to the east of Taiwan, state broadcaster CCTV said.
