New study explores the prevalence of heatwaves in East Asia
Researchers examine the prevalence of heatwaves in East Asia as well as the potential effects of climate change on their occurrence. By classifying the heatwaves based on humidity conditions as dry and moist heatwaves, the study identifies regions in East Asia vulnerable, respectively, to dry and moist heatwaves, with simulations indicating worsening conditions if greenhouse gas emissions continue at the current rates.
