Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., said at the July 21 Jan. 6 hearing that former President Donald Trump was reluctant to stop the mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol because they were “accomplishing” his purpose in stopping the certification of Joe Biden’s presidential victory. “President did not fail to act,” Kinzinger said. “He chose not to act.” In the year since its creation, the committee has conducted more than 1,000 interviews, seeking critical information and documents from people witness to, or involved in, the violence that day.
