Chauvin was sentence Thursday on federal charges of violating George Floyd's civil rights the day of his murder. Friends and family of Floyd had a chance to read statements in federal court ahead of the sentencing. In December, Chauvin pleaded guilty to those charges, admitting for the first time he kept his knee on Floyd's neck, even after he became unresponsive.
