Tropical Storm Colin was downgraded to a tropical depression after it gained status as a tropical Storm Saturday. On this edition of Tracking the Tropics, meteorologist Brittany Van Voorhees will have the latest on Colin's impacts on the Outer Bank of North Carolina through the Fourth of July, plus an update on Tropical Storm Bonnie and a tropical system that we're no longer tracking in the Caribbean. Colin moved northeast along the East Coast at about 7 mph. Dangerous beach conditions, elevated rip currents, and isolated flooding were the primary concerns. Improvements are expected as early as tomorrow. Beachgoers were advised to expect on and off showers with pockets of rain - heavy at times and gusty winds on occasion. It's still advised to heed any swim advisories if you have plans to visit the beaches over the holiday weekend. The primary impacts are rough surfs with elevated rip currents. What's left of Colin is expected to have an impact in the Outer Banks of North Carolina Sunday with rain, gusty winds and rip currents possible along the North Carolina coast before the storm pushes out into the Atlantic Ocean by Monday.
