There are currently no threats to the northern Gulf Coast, but we continue to watch the NW Caribbean as Invest 91 tries to organize into Tropical Storm Alex. The broad low pressure is sitting off the coast near Cozumel, but hasn't been able to strengthen just yet thanks to wind shear and dry air. The tropical disturbance still has a high chance to become our fist depression or tropical storm of the 2022 Hurricane Season. The system will lift toward South Florida on Friday and Saturday as a trough over the Gulf pulls it northeast. The trough also means wind shear and dry air, so that will keep whatever develops from getting too strong. The system will remain lopsided with rain on the east side. Heavy rain is the primary threat for South Florida as some locations could see over 7" of rain. Things will improve in Florida by the end of Saturday as the system moves northeast into the Atlantic.
