Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed Spanish Parliament on Tuesday and said that Russia "doesn't want peace for real" and plead with Europe to do more to stop the country's offensive in Ukraine. Zelenskiy denounced the atrocities against civilians in Bucha near Kyiv, saying they represented "war crimes" for which Russian officers should be charged. He urged Spanish companies to completely halt business with Russia and called for tougher Western sanctions against Moscow that would include a ban on Russian oil imports. In an emotional speech, he drew parallels between Russia's attacks on Ukrainian cities and the 1937 bombing of the Basque town of Guernica by Nazi aircraft during the Spanish Civil War. Zelenskiy urged Spanish lawmakers to "do even more to force Russia to start searching for peace and respect international law." In order to end the war, Zelenskiy said "Europe must just stop fearing, stop being weak", and place "values and democracy" above Russian threats.
