Foreign media were given access to search and rescue areas of Guangxi region where a Boeing 737-800 plane crashed earlier this week. Rain has continued to hamper efforts to locate the flight data recorder of China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735. The plane crashed with 132 people on board earlier this week. Off-and-on rain was impeding the search for a second straight day, as investigators expanded their search for a second black box from the aircraft. Dozens of police vehicles lined up along muddy mountainous roads leading to Molang village. A woman in tears was seen being escorted away, while security officials blocked journalists from filming. Hundreds of officials including police officers, security guards, paramilitary police, construction workers, and communication tech workers were seen on site. One of the black boxes, believed to be the cockpit voice recorder, was found Wednesday. Its outer casing was damaged but the orange cylinder was relatively intact, investigators said. The Boeing 737-800 was cruising at 29,000 feet (8,800 meters) when it suddenly nose-dived into a remote mountainous area on Monday, setting off a fire in the surrounding forest that could be seen in NASA satellite images. No survivors have been found.
