Flames shot out of a 15-story apartment building in western Kyiv which was hit by an airstrike Tuesday, as Russia's relentless bombardment of Ukraine edged closer to the center of the capital city. Thick dark plumes rose from the building as firefighters attempted to douse the blaze. Several floors were blackened. A spokesperson for Kyiv's fire department said at least two people had died and 47 had been rescued. In the Lukyanivka district of Kyiv, an office of a military factory was targeted. The roof was seriously damaged and smoke could be seen rising from the building. Shortly before dawn, large explosions thundered across Kyiv from what Ukrainian authorities said were artillery strikes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said barrages hit four multi-story buildings in the city and caused dozens of deaths.
