Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Russian leaders on Thursday the invasion of Ukraine will backfire on them as their economy is strangled. "You will definitely be prosecuted for complicity in war crimes,” he said in a video address Thursday. "And then, it will definitely happen, you will be hated by Russian citizens." Zelenskyy also accused Russian authorities of creating a "humanitarian catastrophe" and a plan to humiliate the Ukrainian population through blockades on cities. "They want to humiliate our people. Make them go on their knees and take bread and water from the hands of the invaders. So that Ukrainians can save their lives just by going to the occupied territories or to Russia." The Ukrainian leader also confirmed three people, including a child, were killed after a Russian airstrike on a maternity hospital in the port city of Mariupol on Wednesday. The attack has drawn outrage, with Ukrainian and Western officials branding it a war crime. Russia’s two-week-long war in Ukraine has killed thousands of soldiers and civilians and forced more than 2 million people to flee the country, shaking the foundations of European security. Across Ukraine, civilians still trapped in besieged or destroyed areasare suffering from electricity outages and shortages of food, medicines and other vital services. Thousands were hoping the six humanitarian corridors agreed on so far would hold during an expected daylong cease-fire in these areas Thursday - even as talks for a broad truce failed.
