Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia had no ill intentions towards its neighbours and called on them not to impose any sanctions amid unprecedented Western measures following the invasion of Ukraine. Speaking at the commissioning of a newly-built ferry that is set to deliver goods to the Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, Putin said that sanctions will strengthen Russia as they will force his country to build up knowledge that had been restricted from abroad. Russia finds itself increasingly isolated and staring down the barrel of complete economic meltdown and technological deprivation after the US and European nations imposed sweeping sanctions over hostilities in Ukraine.
