A school guidance counselor who met with Oxford High School shooting suspect Ethan Crumbley before the incident testified about a meeting he had with Crumbley's parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, who are charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the shooting. The counselor, Shawn Hopkins, said the couple "weren't friendly or showing care" to Ethan Crumbley during the meeting, and appeared to resist taking him for treatment, saying they needed to work.
