The funeral service for Robert J. Dole, longtime Republican lawmaker and presidential contender, will be held on Dec. 10 at the National Cathedral and the World War II Memorial. In his younger years, Dole overcame the hardships of dust bowl Kansas during the Depression and devastating injuries in World War II. He sought the presidency three times and served as the Senate Republican leader for more than a decade. He died on Dec. 5 at 98 years old.
