An American air base in Germany has been serving as the largest reception port for the U.S. to receive evacuees from Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover. Rows upon rows of military tents set up at the Ramstein base have become the temporary home to Afghans waiting to be resettled. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Brigadier General Josh Olsen said Operation Allies Refuge had been "chaotic" and the site had at times been pushed to capacity. Olsen said the some 15,000 people staying at the military facility included unaccompanied children, while it was now also taking on those who were temporarily evacuated to other countries. Hundreds of volunteers and forces members are supporting care for the thousands of evacuees moving through the base to their next destination. Imam and army captain, Mir M. Ali, has been providing emotional and spiritual support to the Afghans staying at the base. Ali said many Afghans have loved ones they have left behind which was an "ongoing concern for them."
