Why politicians should read the grim climate report

In the latest climate report released by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, scientists painted a grim outlook for the world as a result of global warming and an increasing global temperature. For the first time, scientists have directly linked greenhouse gas emissions to environmental disasters such as extreme rainfall, drought and wildfires. But the political window for passing climate policy to address these issues is shrinking. As the upcoming 2022 election cycle gets closer, Senate Democrats are hard-pressed to pass their $3.5 trillion spending plan, which allocates significant resources to addressing climate change, before campaigning begins.
