Footage taken just minutes after the partial collapse of Champlain Towers South early on June 24 captures the horrifying scene in Surfside, and records onlookers who were initially drawn to noises they heard coming from the condo before it fell. This footage, shared with Storyful by TikTok user @adrianitacastillero, was filmed shortly before 1.30 am. Separate footage taken by the same uploader showed the building still standing but with damage to the basement level only minutes before it fell. According to the Miami Herald, the partial collapse that affected some 55 apartments occurred around 1.20 am. A week after the incident, the death toll has risen to 18, while a further 145 people remain unaccounted for, according to local officials.
