The U.S. House on Wednesday passed legislation that would establish a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, despite opposition from Republican leadership by a vote of 252-175. Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell said earlier Wednesday that he opposes the Democrats’ plan for a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack, casting doubt about whether Congress can come to an agreement on an independent probe of the insurrection.
