Vice President Kamala Harris has reacted to the conviction of former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin of murder and manslaughter in George Floyd’s death, by saying this verdict takes us a step closer, "but the fact is we still have work to do." Harris was speaking at the White House before President Joe Biden delivered his own reaction to the verdict. "A measure of justice isn't the same as equal justice," Harris said. "It is keeping us from fulfilling the promise of liberty and justice for all," she added. Biden, Harris and first lady Jill Biden called members of the Floyd family moments after the verdict, according to video posted by family attorney Ben Crump. According to the White House, Biden and Harris watched the verdict live from the private dining room just off the Oval Office.
