The trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin continues on April 2 with key witness testimony. Chauvin, who was filmed with his knee on George Floyd’s neck in May, faces murder and manslaughter charges for the encounter that sparked months of historic protests around the world. This stream contains graphic content. Three other officers charged in the case — J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas K. Lane and Tou Thao — are set to be tried separately in August. Witnesses who have taken the stand in the emotional first week of the trial have expressed deep regret for not having done more to try to save Floyd, who was 46 when he died. Additionally, a former police supervisor said that Chauvin should have stopped kneeling on Floyd’s neck when he stopped resisting. David Pleoger, who was a supervisor in the city’s 3rd Precinct, recounted to prosecutors how Chauvin “could have ended the restraint” once Floyd was in custody. The Post’s Rhonda Colvin will anchor live coverage featuring reporters Mary Beth Albright, Keith Alexander, Holly Bailey, Nicole Ellis, Hannah Jewell, Robert Samuels and Eugene Scott.
