White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says President Joe Biden is "closely" watching the George Floyd murder trial in Minneapolis. Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is charged with unintentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter. The most serious charge, the second-degree murder count, carries up to 40 years in prison. The case is the first trial ever televised in Minnesota. Psaki says Biden will be receiving updates about the trial as it progresses. "He talked about this as being an event that really opened up a wound in the American public," she said. "And it really brought to light for a lot of people in this country just the kind of racial injustice and inequality that many communities are experiencing every single day.
