China's vaccination program is behind compared to other countries, part of the reason for that is because the country took effective measures countering the coronavirus. As of now, there's about 17 million doses have been administered, while the population of China is 1.4 billion. The vaccination program in China actually began summer 2020. In the beginning, the government was selective in terms of who can receive the shots. The government has been gradually expanding vaccine coverage. The vaccines have finally become available to foreigners. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have invited foreign diplomats and journalists to take the Sinopharm shots.
