Sarah Everard Killing: London Police Officer Charged With Kidnap, Murder

A serving Metropolitan police officer has been charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard, who disappeared as she walked home in south London, Scotland Yard said on Friday evening. Scotland Yard's Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave announced that Wayne Couzens, 48 years old, remains in custody and will appear at a London court on Saturday morning. Ephgrave thanked all the people who came forward and gave information about Everard's disappearance and his colleagues at Kent police. He added that Everard's family has been informed and is supported by officials. Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, vanished after setting out to walk home from a friend's house in London on March 3. Authorities on Wednesday found human remains belonging to Everard in Ashford, Kent.
