From Haarlem to Rotterdam, protesters and riot police clash in Dutch towns and cities due to a Covid-19 curfew in the Netherlands. Protesters set fires and confronted police, defying the country's coronavirus curfew between 9 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. The curfew was brought in to combat sharply rising coronavirus infections, hospitalizations and deaths, but many have actively defied it across the Netherlands after posts on social media to protest. Riot police were deployed in the city of Haarlem, where rioters set fires and clashed with authorities. Around 70 rioters have been arrested in the western city, as well as in the port city of Rotterdam. The Netherlands has seen over 13,600 confirmed virus deaths in the coronavirus pandemic.
