A federal judge has delayed the Trump administration’s scheduled execution of Lisa Montgomery after two of her lawyers tested positive for coronavirus. The delay could put Montgomery’s execution past Inauguration Day. President-elect Joe Biden says he opposes the death penalty, but it’s unclear if he would halt this execution. Montgomery, the only woman on federal death row, was convicted of killing a pregnant woman and cutting her baby out of her womb.
