Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is in Columbus, Georgia on Monday to campaign with Democratic nominees for U.S Senate Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. More than 1.3 million people have already cast mail-in ballots or voted early in-person in the upcoming contests. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris told reporters before the rally that she was there to remind Georgians that "their voice is strong and matters." She said January 5 election will determine the future of Georgia and the country. "Just here to remind folks that we need them to have a strong voice in the United States Senate," she said. Ivanka Trump is also in Georgia, campaigning for Republican Nominees, Kelly Loeffler and David Purdue. The appearances in opposite ends of the state continued a cavalcade of top-shelf surrogates wading into the races, the outcome of which will determine the balance of power in the U.S. Senate in the nascence of Joe Biden's presidency. Wins by both of the Democrats on the ballot, Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock, would yield a 50-50 divide, with Harris as the tie-breaking vote.
