Timelapse footage captured a snow-covered Times Square in New York on December 16, as a nor’easter swept along the East Coast, dumping several inches of snow on the city. The National Weather Service recorded 6.5 inches of snow and sleet in Central Park shortly after midnight on December 17 – more than the 4.8-inch total for all of the 2019-2020 winter season. News reports said locals were braced for black ice on December 18, as the city grappled with freezing temperatures.
