Florida prepares to distribute first vaccine doses
Federal approval of the nation’s first coronavirus vaccine came late Friday and set in motion an effort to get the drug into as many arms as possible — as soon as possible.
Florida will receive 179,400 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for COVID-19 within a week and use them to inoculate nursing home patients and health care workers most exposed to the virus, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday.
The governor also announced a pilot vaccination program that puts Pinellas nursing homes at the front of the line. They could receive doses as soon as next week.
