Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday insisted the White House condemned "threats against anyone," when asked about potential violence in Georgia over the election results. A day earlier, a top Georgia elections official lashed out angrily at the rhetoric surrounding the election and the threats of violence that have resulted, specifically calling on President Donald Trump to rein in his supporters. A Republican who oversaw the implementation of the state’s new voting system, Gabriel Sterling admonished the president and Georgia's two U.S. senators, who are both locked in tight runoff races against Democrats and have called on GOP Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to resign over claims that he mishandled the election. However in her comments from the White House briefing room, McEnany quickly pivoted, to blame "leftist organizations," for alleged actions making against the president's lawyers' private information public. "So we're seeing that happen to people on both sides of the argument and there's no place for that ever anywhere." McEnany also defended the White House's decision to go ahead with holiday parties, even as health officials urged Americans to stay home over the upcoming holiday season. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that the best way to stay safe and protect others is to stay home. "If you can loot businesses, burn down buildings, engage in protest, you can also go to a Christmas party," McEnany said. McEnany also said the president was "serious" about his threat to veto the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) over Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, which protects companies that can host trillions of messages from being sued into oblivion by anyone who feels wronged by something someone else has posted.
