Protesters gathered in New York Wednesday night to demand that all votes cast in the election be counted. Holding signs reading "Racial Justice" and "Defend Democracy," the "Count Every Vote" protesters marched down 5th Avenue, before staging a sit-down protest in Washington Square. A similar rally was underway in Philadelphia, where about 200 protesters representing labor unions, groups working to combat climate change and other causes, gathered near Independence Hall. On Wednesday, Democratic challenger Joe Biden won the battleground prizes of Michigan and Wisconsin, reclaiming a key part of the "blue wall" that slipped away from Democrats four years ago. Earlier, the Republican campaign filed suit in a bid to stop the count, demanding Michigan's Democratic secretary of state allow in more inspectors. Trump has repeatedly insisted without evidence that there are major problems with the voting and the counting. Biden also won Arizona on Wednesday, a former Republican stronghold, becoming only the second Democratic presidential candidate since 1948 to win the state. A full day after Election Day, neither candidate had cleared the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House. But Biden's victories in the Great Lakes states left him at 264, meaning he was one state away - any state - from crossing the threshold and becoming president-elect. Trump's campaign requested a recount in Wisconsin, in addition to filing lawsuits in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Votes are still being counted in Nevada, where Trump's slim lead over Biden leaves the race too close to call with a large number of ballots yet to be counted.
